Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing Announced As Jean Paul Gaultier’s Next Couture Guest Designer

The Designer Will Put His Mark On The House For Its Fall 2022 Couture Collection

Jean-Paul Gaultier has announced that Olivier Rousteing, the creative director of Balmain, has been appointed as the house’s guest designer for its next couture collection. He will present the Fall 2022 couture collection from the upcoming Paris Couture Week, which is scheduled to take place from July 3 to 7.

Since the revival of the house’s couture line after Jean Paul Gaultier’s last show in the spring of 2020, two guest designers have previously shared collections: Sacai’s Chitose Abe for Fall 2021 and Y/Project’s Glenn Martens for Spring 2022. Both designers shared very contemporary reimaginings of the JPG archives, each with an eye on deconstructionism through their unique lens.

Rousteing’s work for Balmain has been quite different from Abe and Martens, and he is an excellent designer himself, so we look forward to seeing how he will put his own spin on the iconic house.
