Lafayette 148 Teams Up with The Woolmark Co. for Merino Wool Certification

Lafayette 148, the luxury women’s lifestyle brand, has collaborated with The Woolmark Co., the global authority on merino wool, for certification.

The Lafayette 148 Merino collection has successfully passed the five stages of testing to achieve Woolmark certification. Each piece carrying the Woolmark logo has been recognized with a trusted mark of quality. Pure New Wool consists of 100 percent new wool, while Wool Rich Blend contains 50 percent or more of new wool.

Merino wool, sourced from merino sheep, is revered for being the world’s finest and softest wool. Australian merino wool is all-natural, renewable, and biodegradable, known for its softness, strength, and technical benefits such as breathability, elasticity, and resistance to water, stains, wrinkles, and odors.

The Lafayette 148 Merino collection showcases luxuriously soft super-fine merino wool in sharp tailoring, reversible outerwear, and lofty knitwear. The brand favors merino wool for its lightness, resilience, and breathability for year-round wear.

Emily Smith, creative director of Lafayette 148, expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating, “We’ve always sourced our wool from the finest mills in the world, so it’s very exciting to offer even further transparency of its unparalleled quality.”

Established in 1964, Woolmark is a not-for-profit organization supported by over 60,000 Australian woolgrowers. The Woolmark logo is an internationally recognized symbol used to identify premium quality merino wool. Licensed partners must meet strict performance standards and undergo rigorous independent testing to utilize the Woolmark logo, ensuring the purity and authenticity of the wool used in their garments.
