British knitwear brand N.Peal has partnered with Hollywood Authentic to introduce a new collection inspired by silver screen icons like Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, and Elizabeth Taylor. The 16-piece collection, which includes styles for both men and women, draws from the fashion of Hollywood’s Golden Age and celebrates N.Peal’s connection to legendary film stars. Prices for the pieces range from $410 for a Hepburn-inspired turtleneck to $1,690 for a chunky intarsia knit cardigan modeled after Monroe’s famed Geist & Geist cardigan.
“We were influenced by Hollywood’s obsession with 1950s American high school fashion and paid homage to the varsity sweater that is a cultural icon of 1950s America,” said Greg Williams, founder of Hollywood Authentic, and a well-known photographer.
The collaboration came about after Williams met N.Peal’s CEO, Adam Holdsworth. Reflecting on the label’s upcoming 90th anniversary, Holdsworth commented, “I wanted to create a collection that celebrated its unique history, and that’s when I started to think about working with Greg on a collection that celebrated style icons of the silver screen.”
In addition to pieces inspired by Hepburn and Monroe, the collection features sweaters and T-shirts with the word “Hollywood” printed in a gothic font—a nod to Jean Seberg’s role in the classic film Breathless. One notable design is “The Blonde,” an ivory cashmere cable knit turtleneck named after a 1956 news article detailing how N.Peal’s founder delivered a sweater to Marilyn Monroe.
The collection reflects N.Peal’s history of dressing film stars such as Cary Grant and Ava Gardner, while incorporating elements of 1950s American high school fashion. It is now available for purchase, offering a nostalgic yet modern take on classic Hollywood style.
