Anthony Vaccarello Teams for a Black & White Photography Book Exclusively For Saint Laurent Rive Droite
Creative Director, Anthony Vaccarello continues to expand the DNA of Saint Laurent by partnering with photographer Henrik Purienne on a new photography book for Saint Laurent Rive Droite. As part of the Saint Laurent Rive Droite editions, books produced and published for Rive Droite only, Vaccarello invited Purienne to express his vision through a series of black & white images.
The photos, captured in Paris, are true to Purienne’s erotic, playful and sensual aesthetic. The images are stark and beautiful and when the models are clothed they are wearing Saint Laurent by Vaccarello collections. Born in South African, Purienne is also a film director, and founder of fashion publication, Mirage.
Saint Laurent Rive Droite has previously enlisted Purienne for other projects, as he shot the campaign that launched the brand’s curated retail space. Vacarello also asked Purienne to partner exclusively with Saint Laurent Rive Droite, to customize a limited-edition slipcover for his famous book, ‘Jeux du Peau,’ which translates to Skin Games.
Saint Laurent Rive Droite came to life when it took over the space formerly occupied by iconic concept store Colette. Saint Laurent’s retail space is ever-evolving, showcasing a wide range of new products and collaborations, including limited-edition books, photography, music, and now sports equipment. ‘I didn’t want to lose the spirit of curiosity that was at Colette, a place where people went to see what was new and happening,’ says Vaccarello. ‘I wanted to show something else beyond the typical four collections per year.’
This is the fourth book of the Rive Droite editions, following the exclusive books on Daido Moriyama, Betty Catroux and Gray Sorrenti.
Saint Laurent Rive Droite editions also published their first fanzine with Derek Ridgers in February 2021.
