Including the Return of Maison Margiela’s Artisanal Line and an Absent Iris van Herpen
The Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode has shared the provisional schedule for the Spring 2024 couture season, which will cap off a busy January following the Milan and Paris Men’s Fashion Weeks.
Running from the 22nd through the 25th, the schedule includes 40 shows, which will be kicked off by Schiaparelli on Monday morning. Maison Margiela’s artisanal line will close out the week, returning to the couture schedule after a two-season absence in its characteristically sporadic fashion.
The schedule also includes mainstays Christian Dior, Chanel, and Giorgio Armani Privé, as well as Elie Saab, Jean Paul Gaultier – with this year’s guest couture designer being Simone Rocha – and Valentino. Continuing tradition, tradition, high jewelry presentations will also be held throughout the week.
Stephan Rolland’s runway show will include a special presentation that highlights work from students whom the designer mentored in partnership with the the ESMOD and Institut Français de la Mode fashion schools. The first ten looks on the runway will consist of work from students who took part in a masterclass by Rolland during the first trimester of the school year.
2022 ANDAM Special Prize winner Robert Wun will return to the week after skipping last season in July, with an afternoon show on the final day. Also showing that day will be the debut from Dutch designer designer Peet Dullaert, who founded his eponymous label in 2012 with an emphasis on contemporary, trendless, gender-neutral silhouettes crafted largely by hand and with sustainability in mind.
Notably absent from the schedule is Iris van Herpen, who is currently being celebrated with a retrospective exhibition at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs that runs through April 28. The Dutch couturier is expected to hold an event on January 22nd at the museum, but will not be presenting a new collection at this time.
