Tom Peddie Rejoins Nike as VP of Marketplace Partners

Nike Rehires Veteran Exec Tom Peddie to Revitalize Retail Partnerships

Nike Inc. has brought back Tom Peddie, a senior executive who retired in 2020 after working at the company for 30 years, to oversee retail partnerships. The move comes as Nike seeks to mend strained relationships with sneaker sellers and boost sales after a decline.

In an internal memo seen by Bloomberg, it was revealed that Peddie will be taking on the role of vice president of marketplace partners at Nike. The company is aiming to repair ties with retail partners like Foot Locker Inc. following a shift towards its own stores, e-commerce, and apps under the leadership of CEO John Donahoe.

Craig Williams, Nike’s president of geographies and marketplace, expressed confidence in Peddie’s ability to accelerate the Marketplace strategy. “As we continue to focus and improve capabilities in our wholesale business, I am confident that Tom will bring both vision and bold leadership to accelerate the Marketplace strategy,” Williams said in the memo.

Peddie has previously held various senior management positions at Nike, including the role of vice president and general manager of North America. His return to the company was scheduled for June 24, as per the memo. Neither Peddie nor a Nike spokesperson responded immediately to requests for comment.
