Balenciaga Names Daphné Cousineau President Europe
Balenciaga has tapped Daphné Cousineau as President Europe. Cousineau joins Balenciaga from Lanvin where she was Global Sales Director since 2014. Prior to that she was Managing Director at Valentino France, where she oversaw wholesale for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, as well as for partners stores. Cousineau joined the luxury industry in 2005 when she took over as head of wholesale for Céline. She began her career at McKinsey where she worked for six years.

Balenciaga Names Alexia de Courcel Global Merchandising Director
Alexia de Courcel has been appointed Global Merchandising Director for Balenciaga,  responsible for  women’s and men’s across all categories. De Courcel joins from Céline where she worked for three years as the Collections Director for RTW. Prior to that she was Senior Buyer for Luxury and Designers at Printemps. She previously held merchandising roles at Givenchy and Emilio Pucci.

Balenciaga Appoints Laura du Rusquec Director of Strategic Projects
Laura du Rusquec has been named Director of Strategic Projects at Balenciaga, she will be responsible for managing initiatives pertaining to the retail performance as well as alignment of brand strategy. Rusquec was most recently Strategy Director at Kering’s Luxury Couture & Leather Goods Division. Her career in strategy includes various leadership strategy roles at Gucci, YSL, Puma, Balenciaga, and Pomellato.

Balenciaga Taps Caroline Bonnet-Maes As Global HR VP
Caroline Bonnet-Maes has joined Balenciaga as Director of Human Resources, Global HR VP. She joins the firm from Fast Retailing, owner of Uniqlo, where she served as Group HR Director. Prior to that she was HR Director at Chloé for six years.

Uniqlo Appoints Rebekka Bay As Creative Director
Rebekka Bay has been named Creative Director of Uniqlo’s research and design center based in New York. Bay most recently served as Head of Product and Design at Everlane. Prior to that she was Creative Director at Gap. Bay made a name for herself as Creative Director of minimalist high street brand COS, which she conceptualised and developed for its owner, H&M.

Jean-Jacques Guével Joins Zadig & Voltaire as General Manager
Parisian designer house Zadig & Voltaire has tapped Jean-Jacques Guével as General Manager. Guével most recently served as International Director of Céline for eight years. Prior to that Guével worked at LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton’s fashion division as well as at brands including S.T. Dupont and Louis Vuitton.

Michael Kors Taps Thomas Edwards As CFO/COO
Michael Kors Holdings has appointed Thomas Edwards as Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer. Edwards joins from restaurant firm, Brinker International, where he served as CFO. Prior to that Edwards was CFO of Wyndham Hotel Group where he held various leadership roles for over seven years. Edwards began his financial career at Nabisco, later moving to Kraft Inc. where he rose to become VP of Finance.

Browns has tapped Paul Brennan as Chief Operating Officer. Brennan joins Browns from Yoox’s Net-a-Porter Group, where he served as Deputy Post-merger Integration and Operational Excellence Director. Previously Brennan was with Net-A-Porter for eight years as Group Merchandising Director. He previously held various leadership roles at John Lewis, Ralph Lauren, and House of Fraser.

Toronto based Holt Renfrew as tapped VP Linda DeFrances as SVP/General Merchandise Manager. Previously DeFrances was VP DMM of women’ ready-to-wear and brand development at Saks Fifth Avenue. Prior to that she was the Divisional Merchandise Manager of women’s wear at Bergdorf Goodman, and a buyer at Barneys New York.

New York Fashion Week: Women’s Maximizes Efficiencies to Shorten By 1 Day
This upcoming September NYFW: Women’s will close on a Wednesday rather than Thursday as Marc Jacobs, who closes out the week, will move his show up a day at show on Wednesday September 13th at 6pm.. The moves allow for a day of travel to London shows and comes after an adjustment of the New York schedule seeing Calvin Klein moving to an earlier spot to open the week at 10am. As previously reported Tom Ford will be returning the week to show opening day at 7pm. Designers Proenza Schouler, Rodarte, Lacoste, Monique Lhuillier will be opting for Paris shows rather than New York this season while Hood by Air, who hated their operations, will also not be showing.

Louis Vuitton to Show Cruise 2018 in Japan
Louis Vuitton will show their Cruise 2018 collection in Kyoto, Japan on May 14th at the Miho Museum. The museum, designed by I. M. Pei follows on the heels of the house showing at similar architectual institutions in Rio de Janeiro, Palm Springs, and Monaco.
