Jil Sander Names Luke, Lucie Meier as Creative Directors
Jil Sander has appointed husband and wife design duo,Luke and Lucie Meier, as Creative Directors. Lucie Meier most recently stepped into the spotlight along with Serge Ruffieux, working under Raf Simons at Dior navigating the houses spring and fall ready-to-wear and couture studios between the exit of Simons and the arrival of his successor, Maria Grazia Chiuri. Earlier Lucie Meier worked in the design studios of Balenciaga and Louis Vuitton. Luke Meier is the Cofounder and Designer of OAMC a men’s brand which he will continue to design. This is the first time the married designers have worked together.
Hood by Air Goes on Hiatus As Design Shayne Oliver Focuses on Helmut Lang
Fashion’s underground champion collection, Hood by Air, designed by Shayne Oliver, is going on hiatus as leadership turns their focus to new projects. Oliver will focus his attentions on his new role as Head of Design at Helmut Lang — owned by Andrew Rosen’s Link TheoryHoldings, a subsidiary of Fast Retailing. Hood by Air’s CEO, Leilah Weinraub, will focus on her film career. Oliver won the Swarovski Award for Menswear at the 2015 CFDA Awards and was a finalist for the inaugural LVMH Prize in 2014. His first collection for Helmut lang will be unveiled this upcoming September.
Balmain Names Massimo Piombini CEO
Balmain has appointed Massimo Piombini as Chief Executive Officer. Piombini was already a member of Balmain’s board of directors and previously served as Worldwide Commercial Director at Valentino since 2008. Prior to Valentino, Piombini held leadership roles at at Bally, Boucheron, Gucci and Bulgari.
Jenna Lyons Departs J. Crew
J. Crew’s President, Jenna Lyons is parting ways with the firm after 26 years. Lyons began her career upon graduating from Parsons School of Design and obtaining an internship at Donna Karan. She was one of the first members of the design team under founder Emily Woods at J. Crew, working first in menswear. Over the next two decades she worked her way to the role of President. She will stay on as a Creative Advisor until December 2017.
J. Crew Promotes Somsack Sikhounmuong to Chief Design Officer
Somsack Sikhounmuong, Head of Women’s Design at J. Crew, has been promoted to Chief Design Officer, taking over duties of Jenna Lyons. Sikhounmuong became Head of Women’s Design in 2015 shifting from the same role at J. Crew owned firm, Madewell. Sikhounmuong worked at J. Crew from 2001 to 2012 on various design roles prior to heading up Madewell.
Massimo Giorgetti Departs as Creative Director at Emilio Pucci
After two years at the helm as Creative Director, Massimo Giorgetti, is parting ways with the firm to focus on the growth of his own label, MSGM. Giorgetti joined Emilio Pucci in 2015, replacing Peter Dundas. His collections for the house have been widely praised.
Coach Tapps Josh Shulman President/Chief Executive
Former Head of Bergdorf Goodman, Joshua Schulman, has been tapped by Coach as the firms new President and Chief Executive, starting this June. Schulman will report directly to Victor Luis, CEO of Coach Inc., in a newly created-role and will be responsible for all aspects of the Coach brand. Schulman was recently President of Bergdorf Goodman/NMG International since 2012. Prior to that he served as CEO of Jimmy Choo in London. Earlier in his career he was President of Kenneth Cole, and Gap Inc.’s managing director of international strategic alliances. Schulman notably made a name for himself at Gucci Group serving as Worldwide Director Women’s for Gucci and later EVP/Worldwide Merchandising and Sales at Saint Laurent
Ralph Lauren Promotes Lana Todorovich to President Wholesale
After a year at Ralph Lauren as President of Women’s Apparel and Accessories Wholesale, Lana Todorovich has been promoted to President of Wholesale adding the responsibilities of men’s, boys’, girls’, baby and home categories. Todorovich had joined Ralph Lauren from Li & Fung where she was President of Women’s. Prior to that she was with Perry Ellis as President for a year. Todorovich earlier spent 11 years at Warnaco Inc. in various leadership roles including SVP of Merchandising, Sales and Planning working on Calvin Klein.
Benetton Group’s CEO Marco Airoldi To Depart
CEO of Benetton Group, Marco Airoldi, will voluntarily part ways with the firm this May. Airoldi became CEO of Benetton in 2014 having worked with the brand on a restructuring plan as Senior Partner and Managing Birector of Boston Consulting.
Tommaso Brusò Tapped as COO of Benetton Group
Benetton Group has named Tommaso Brusò as Chief Operating Officer. Brusò most recently was CEO North America of Diesel for the past 6 years. Prior to that Brusò was President/CEO of Furla North and South America. He began his career at Benetton as a Retail Operations Manager.
Hudson Jeans Names Matthew Fior As President
Hudson Jeans, a part of Differential Brands Group Inc., has tapped Matthew Fior as President. Fior joins Hudson Jeans from Lucky Brand, where he worked in various senior roles since 2011 including Chief Merchandising Officer. Prior to Lucky, Fior held senior leadership roles at Levi Strauss & Co. Gap Inc., and American Eagle.
Bastien Daguzan, previously CEO at Lemaire, has been named General Manager at Paco Rabanne.
Mario Testino+ Taps Brigid Walsh As Global Development Director
Brigid Walsh has been named Global Development Director at Mario Testino. Walsh was most recently Executive Director of Communications, Partnerships and Special Events at American Vogue for the past 4 years. Prior to that she managed her own firm, Walsh Events Group from 2009 to 2013. Walsh had earlier been Associate Director of Special Events at American Vogue from 2006 to 2009. She began her career in Los Angeles managing her own PR firm for 8 years.

Gucci to Show Cruise 2018 in Florence
Following previous Cruise shows in New York City and London’s Westminster Abbey, Gucci will debut Creative Director Alessandro Michele’s forthcoming cruise collection at Florence Pitti Palace’s Palatina Gallery on Monday May 29th. The showing is part of a cultural project, “Primavera di Boboli,” with the Uffizi Gallery and the city of Florence. Gucci will donate two million euros over the course of three years to restore the Boboli Gardens which are behind the Pitti Palace’s Palatina Gallery.
Monique Lhuillier To Show In Paris
Monique Lhuillier will align with the Haute Couture calendar and present her Spring 2018 collection during Couture Week in Paris, July 2017. The designer explained that the shift in business strategy reflects the need to connect more deeply with international editors and buyers. The house will consolidate Resort and Spring collections, offering earlier exposure for the full season and subsequent delivery into retail.
Elle UK Promotes Anne-Marie Curtis to Editor-in-Chief
Elle UK has promoted Anne-Marie Curtis to Editor-In-Chief. Curtis has served as Fashion Director at the magazine for the past 13 years. Prior to that she was Fashion Director at Wallpaper* Magazine. Curtis began her career in the early 90s at SKY magazine after getting her original break as an intern at Elle UK magazine.
T Magazine Names Hanya Yanagihara As Editor
Hanya Yanagihara has been named Editor of T: The New York Magazine. Yanagihara Had departed from T Magazine in May of 2016 having served as the magazines Deputy Editor. Yanagihara previously served as an Editor-at-Large for Condé Nast Traveler. She is also the author of The People in the Trees and the critically-acclaimed A Little Life.
