CFDA helps recent design graduates get in front of those looking to hire with their new CFDA+ 2016 Design Graduates program
BY KENNETH RICHARD
The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) has always been a home for talent so it comes as no surprise that today the organization threw out the welcome mat to the next generation of design talents with the launch of a CFDA+ 2016 Design Graduates program.
The program is designed to help established talent find nascent talent via showcasing the portfolios of 51 recent graduates from 30 leading fashion schools around the world. Designers looking to make new hires can view their portfolios on CFDA.com.
The 51 design graduates, representing 14 nationalities, were selected among 240+ applications by a section committee including Sarah Blair, Barneys New York; Brandon Maxwell; Henry Zankov, DVF; Thomas Chen, Prabal Gurung; Thi Wan, Thom Browne, Wendy Lu, Tory Burch, amongst others. Graduates are creatively diverse with specializations in Womenswear, Menswear, Accessories, Jewelry, Textiles and Knitwear.
CFDA+ is also partnering with EyesonTalents, Floriane de Saint Pierre’s innovative platform, which will generously spotlight the program and provide global visibility to the CFDA+ 2016 Design Graduates. The designer profiles will also be shared with CFDA’s 500-plus Membership.
“Giving visibility to the best talent is the most meaningful way to support their careers,” said Floriane de Saint Pierre, President of Floriane de Saint Pierre & Associés and Founder of EyesonTalents.
I had the most fun in the selection process for this year’s CFDA+ program. Each of the applicants were incredibly inspiring not only in their designs and respective crafts, but also in their personalities and interviews. You could really see that each of them had a point of view and conviction.
The Impression applauds the effort of the CFDA to help and encourages you to preview a few finalist her and to meet all of the CFDA+ 2016 Design Graduates on the CFDA.com to discover their potential.
