Mulberry has three short videos in store for consumers for spring and released their first this week featuring the multitalented British aristocrat, actress, model and dancer Cressida Bonas. The series is titled From England With Love, and will feature emerging talent from the worlds of fashion and style, film and theatre, art and design, digital and new technology.
In the video directed by Ivana Bobic, our heroine enters an estate to discover a roped off indoor garden with its own sound system that kicks on ESG’s “Dance” when touched. Taking the song cues quite literally, Ms. Bonas kicks off her shoes, steps onto the grass and begins to dance her way to an altar of a Mulberry handbag, no less.
The set was designed by Michael Howells, who is known for his imaginative staging for the likes of Vogue Italia and Dior, and the staging has an air of Lewis Caroll to it with Bonas tripping down the rabbit hole. The piece is upbeat warm and closes with a cameo of fellow up-and-coming British actor Freddie Fox. Whether Fox and Bonas return in the other two shorts remains to be seen, but we like the idea of them all being threaded together.
Bonas is the youngest daughter of Lady Mary-Gaye Curzon and former girlfriend of Prince Harry. She makes full use of her training at the Trinity Laban Dance Conservatoire in London in this piece and will make her feature film debut later this year in “Tulip Fever” alongside Judi Dench, Christoph Waltz, and fashion’s own Cara Delevingne.
Mulberry had a hit in their Holiday campaign of gift giving one-upmanship, and we can only hope they follow suit here as well as fellow Brit Bryan Ferry’s advice and “Don’t Stop the Dance.”
