Salvatore Ferragamo’s Mid-Century Modern Campaign

By Kenneth Richard

For the Fall 2015 Salvatore Ferragamo ad campaign, designer Massimiliano Giornetti blended the orange-coloured curtain work of artist Christo with the mid-century modern architecture of Rudolph Schindler to bring a new spin on the house. Well, both houses actually.

The campaign was shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott and drips with enough blood orange saturation that it makes us thirst for a Sanpellegrino Aranciata Rossa. There is an air of early 90’s to the campaign that is reminiscent of some of the label’s earlier ad campaigns from that era. Models Julia Bergshoeff, Vanessa Moody, Andrew Cooper and Wouter Peelen round out a cast that can’t decide if they are coming or going, leaving sliding glass doors ajar. We think a little of that Sanpellegrino Aranciata Rossa and some vodka could convince them to stay.
