GUCCI launches cruise tailored campaign with a little help from TOM HIDDLESTON & Simmonds ltd.
BY KENNETH RICHARD
Actor Tom Hiddleston stars in the latest Gucci campaign while contemplating the ultimate fashion question of which is truly mans best friend, a well tailored suit or a dapper dog.
The campaign follows on the tide of fellow celebrities, Vanessa Redgrave and Jared Leto, making their own mark in Gucci campaigns. While the idea of celebrity in campaigns isn’t new to the house of Gucci, it is noticeable that the brand has walked on that path with such a sure foot in such a short amount of time.
Once again the duo of Christopher Simmonds, Creative Director of agency Simmonds ltd, and photographer Glen Luchford have re-teamed to show off the eccentric and polished dandyism of designers Alessandro Michele vision. Hiddleston channels his best Lord Byron while surround by Afghan Hounds in Tony Duquette’s LA mansion while wearing refined silhouettes and a variety of socks.
The campaign hits a modern tone of updated aristocratic styling and forward menswear sharing Gucci’s new Princetown slippers as well as their Heritage tuxedo. And that combination makes us realize that a well tailored suit and a dapper dog don’t have to both vie for top dog as man’s best friend. They simply require a refined gentlemen’s ultimate companion, a lint brush.
