As the New York women’s shows inch ever so closer, designers are finding themselves walking the seasonal high wire act of promoting their new spring arrivals while putting their finishing touches on their fall collections. We were lucky enough to get a hold of designer VERA WANG while balancing on the tightrope to learn more about her latest ad campaign and partnership with Creative Director PASCAL DANGIN of KiDS.

Vera, looking forward to your new collection, but first congrats on the campaign. What can you tell us about it?
We worked again with Pascal Dangin. Pascal gets each of his clients, but more importantly for me, he gets me ….. and my singular passion for tension, couture meets street, mystery and seduction meets cool and hip, youth meets sophistication!
He also believes in my particular brand of energy, irony and charm.

It shows. Your partnership is hitting a really solid note between the recent campaigns to that last TV spot with the men proposing. What makes you such a solid team?
It’s about finding a creative team that both understands one’s vision, and‎ supports it, and is capable of execution. That’s really what truly differentiates great brands from simply product.
Fortunately, you have pretty great product, too. Nice to see your RTW get more play in the campaigns. Do you find it difficult to show enough love to all your children come campaign time?
Well, our company does believe in creating a great deal of synergy between our internal lines, licensees and retail partners. And creating and controlling that imagery and product has been one if my primary objectives these last four years. Pascal and I have collaborated closely for the ads to fully reflect that effort.
We can feel it. Thanks for chatting and looking forward to your upcoming collection showing.
Thank you.
