Alessandro Dell’Acqua’s recent collaborative capsule for Elena Mirò gets a thoughtful campaign treatment from creative director Macs Iotti. Starring model Lara Stone, the Spring 2021 campaign features photography by Mert Atlas and Marcus Piggott.
The collaborative capsule is a bit of a new direction for Elena Mirò, which in general embraces its status as an industry outsider – especially in its commitment to make clothes to fit every woman. Bringing in an established Italian designer like Dell’Acqua is a smart way to marry their open and casually chic approach with the world of high-end fashion.
The campaign imagery relies on a thoughtful juxtaposition of visual approaches. Mert & Marcus put straightforward, black-and-white studio portraits in conversation with angular, colorful street shots. In both sets of images, model Lara Stone brings a strong sense of character and intent.
The film relies even more on Stone’s strong personality and unique look. She narrates a poetic account of the simple yet sublime experience of waking up to the world with each new day.
Embracing both multiplicity and singularity of self, the narrative harmonizes nicely with the imagery which questions the distinction between art and everyday life.
The campaign makes a smart choice of model to embody the collection’s unique sense of femininity. The imagery explores this personality with thoughtfulness and sensitivity, creating a work that feels both uniquely individual and universally relatable.
