Alexander Wang’s new ad campaign for Fall 2017 is not what people would expect from him. Different from the party-like campaigns that Wang has done before, this campaign takes on a more editorial approach, while still maintaining a bad girl feel in, #NOAFTERPARTY.

The title means exactly what it says, there was no after party following this show. Usually every season, Wang does not fail to have an after party with both food and famous musicians, instead, this specific season, he had more of an intimate gathering with those that are a part of #WANGSQUAD, which contain the designer’s circle of “edgy, party-loving cool kids,” consisting of famous models and musicians. This gathering is what makes up the content for this campaign.

Under the creative direction of Ferdinando Verderi of agency Johannes Leonardo, the campaign takes place in Harlem, New York, in the abandoned RKO Hamilton Theatre where Wang held his Fall 2017 show.

The series of photos are sophisticated and showcase the edgy clothing, and also display just how laid back everything was, while the voyeuristic qualities of the video allow for viewers to feel like a “fly on the wall,” with many different surveillance-like shots of all things happening.

Many familiar faces are seen, such as models Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid, and rappers ASAP Ferg and 21 Savage, among many other members of the #WANGSQUAD. The Impression is interested to see if Wang continues on this new path of refinement for his Spring 2018 campaign, or will he bring the party back to everyone?
