Robin Derrick Departs Spring Studios as Global Executive Creative Director
Global Executive Creative Director of Spring Studios is stepping down after 7 years in the position. Derrick joined the integrated creative agency in 2011 after spending 20 years as the Creative Director of Vogue. Derrick’s successor at Spring Studios has not yet been named.
Richemont to Promote Sophie Guieysse to Executive Director
Sophie Guieysse is set to be Executive Director of Richemont, to be made official through an election at the company’s annual general meeting on September 10th. Guieysse joined the company last year as Human Resources Director. Prior to that, she was Advisor to the President at Christian Dior Couture. If Guieysse is elected to Executive Director, she will be reporting to Chief Operating Officer Jérôme Lambert.
Joseph M. McFarland Departs JC Penney’s as EVP and CCO
Chief Customer Officer as EVP of JC Penney’s, Joseph M. McFarland is leaving the company on August 1st after just a few months in his position. Prior to joining Penney’s in February, McFarland was President of Home Depot from 1993 to 2015. McFarland is said to be leaving to take on a new role as EVP of Lowe’s home improvement stores.
Avon Taps Bill Rahn as VP of Asia-Pacific Operations
Bill Rahn has been appointed to VP of Avon’s Asia-Pacific Operations. Previously, Rahn was SVP and Managing Director of Asia-Pacific Operations at Herbalife. In his new position with Avon, Rahn will oversee the company’s markets in China, India, Taiwan, the Philippines and Malaysia, and will be reporting to Avon’s Global President Miguel Fernandez.
Kim Hersov Departs Talitha as Creative Director
Creative Director at luxury Bohemian brand Talitha, Kim Hersov, is stepping down from the brand she co-founded in 2013. Other than her venture with Talitha, Hersov has also acted as an Editor-at-Large at Harper’s Bazaar and as a style consultant for other fashion brands. Hersov’s replacement at Talitha has not yet been named.
Ipsy Appoints Fernando Madeira as President
Cosmetic subscription service Ipsy has tapped Fernando Madeira as President. Previously, Madeira was CEO of Walmart.com. Before that, he founded Terra, Brazil’s first internet portal.
Charlie Miller is now Executive Fashion and Jewelry Director at Porter.
Bethany Freund previously PR Manager at DVF is now Associate Manager of Brand Communications at Warby Parker.
Bottega Veneta Pulls Out of International Season this September
Bottega Veneta has announced that it will not be participating in the upcoming international fashion week season this September. In June Bottega Veneta announced that its Creative Director of 17 years, Thomas Mayer, was stepping down and that Daniel Lee from Céline would step into the creative helm. Thus, Lee will be making his debut at Bottega Veneta in Spring 2019, where his collection will be exclusively presented to buyers in Milan.
Gucci to Host Runway Show at Former Parisian Nightclub
Gucci has announced that it will present its Spring 2019 runway show at the Théâtre Le Palace in Paris on September 24 during Paris Fashion Week. The show will mark the first time that the house hosts a runway show at the location, which was a former Parisian nightclub.
Ralph Lauren Returns to Central Park this Fall
In celebration of the 50th anniversary of his namesake brand, Ralph Lauren has announced that the house is returning to Bethesda Terrace in Central Park to host its New York Fashion Week runway show on September 7. The house celebrated its 40th anniversary at the same location back in 2008. This year’s show as well as a dinner afterward will benefit the Central Park Conservancy, the private nonprofit organization that manages and maintains the park.
Rodarte Returns to New York this Fall
Rodarte has announced its return to New York this fall after showing in Paris the last three seasons. While the location has yet to be determined, the house will showcase its Spring 2019 collection September 9.
SunHee Grinnell Steps Down after 30 Years at Vanity Fair
Beauty Director of Vanity Fair, SunHee Grinnell, has announced she is stepping down from the publication she worked for 30 years. Grinnell joined the publication in 1991 when Tina Brown was at the helm and later under Brown’s successor, Graydon Carter. In 2008, Grinnell was promoted to Beauty Director where she was responsible for expanded beauty coverage in the magazine since and on the web, where she introduced beauty in 2008.
Melissa Giannini previously Editor-in-Chief at Nylon is now Features Director at Elle.
Spencer Bailey, formerly Editor-in-Chief of Surface, Is now Architecture & Design Contributor at Town & Country.
Olivia Martin, previoulsy Sr. Editor at Dwell and Architect’s Newspaper, is now Styles & Interiors Writer at Town & Country.
Romy Oltuski, previously a freelance writer, is now Deputy Features Director at InStyle.
GQ Middle East appoints Adam Baidawi Editor-in-Chief
Adam Baidawi has been named Editor-in-Chief for GQ Middle East, which will launch in September 2018 as the 21st international edition of the global franchise. The 28-year-old journalist and photographer most recently held the post of Australia correspondent for the New York Times, and has written about markets extending from Colombia and Iraq to North Korea and the United States.
