Helmut Lang is reflecting on the past as it moves forward. The fashion house launched in September its Re-Edition collection of archive pieces, and just launched its Artist Series, featuring cult artworks by past artists.
The Artist Series pays homage to Helmut Lang’s many artist collaborations. Editor-in-residence Isabella Burley selected twelve artists for the series, who embody the spirit of Helmut Lang then and now, and the first artist is Swiss artist Walter Pfeiffer.
Born in Zurich in 1946, Pfeiffer took portraits of his friends in New York City, Paris and his home city of Zurich, many of which appeared in his self-titled publication, Walter Pfeiffer, and The eyes, the thoughts, ceaselessly wandering among others.
Several of the artist’s black and white images from the early 1980s appear on Helmut Lang short-sleeved and long-sleeved t-shirts, blankets, pillows and posters. In addition, proceeds of the sales of the collection will be donated to the Nature Conservancy.
The Artist Series is available now at Helmut Lang stores, on HelmutLang.com, and at Opening Ceremony, Ssense, Idea Books, Alex Eagle, The Stores and colette.
