Review of Jil Sander+ Fall 2021 Ad Campaign by Lucie and Luke Meier with Art Director Heiko Keinath and Photographer Nikki McClarron
Jil Sander+ shares a warm and nostalgic new campaign for Fall 2021, featuring photography by Nikki McClarron and art direction by Heiko Keinath.
The Jil Sander+ collections extend and complement the luxurious minimalism and practicality of the brand’s mainline with functional pieces geared for the outdoors. The mood is relaxed, utilitarian, and cozy.
Photographed in Zermatt, Switzerland, the campaign captures this spirit with a set of imagery that embodies the nostalgia and unhurried adventure of memories of ski vacations. Shooting in both color and black and white, McClaron creates a mood that is both naturalistic and dramatic, finding comfort and warmth even among all that snow. With a quiet yet steady rhythm of cream, red, snow-white, and blue, her color images are especially strong.
Combining the harsh edges of mountain peaks with the delicateness of mountain flora, and the cold sting of snow with the warmth of a favorite jacket or a friend’s embrace, the campaign beautifully reflects the feelings of magnitude and magic that arise from being a human among nature.
