Kiko Kostadinov pushes womenswear into a psychedelic future with a Fall 2021 campaign by photographer Tré Koch.
Kiko Kostadinov was initially launched as a menswear brand by its eponymous designer and founder, but has made impressive moves into womenswear thanks to the unique talent of creative directors and twin sisters Laura and Deanna Fanning, who have a thoughtful mastery of unique knits, surprising cuts, and eye-popping patterns.
Koch’s simple studio portraiture puts the imagery’s focus entirely on the unique strength of the Fannings’ designs. Classic pieces like collared sweaters and trench coats are reconsidered with idiosyncratic cuts and paneling, as well as technical elements. From the clouded, hard-candy sunglasses and jewelry down through tops, bags, and shoes, colors pop expressively in unique combinations.
The makeup work goes a long way to support this sense of color across the imagery, while hairstyling also plays an important role in underscoring the persona of forward-thinking style and chic confidence.
The totally minimal photography approach means that every styling element must be perfectly on point, and the campaign rises to this challenge with colorful confidence.
