Louis Vuitton’s Creative Director Nicolas Ghesquière continues to capitalize on the houses Hollywood relationships this season enlisting frequent collaborator, photographer Collier Schorr to step up the game with the houses Pre-Fall 2019 lookbook.
Rather than the traditional route of models, Ghesquière enlisted friends of the brand such as Jennifer Connelly, Michelle Williams, Léa Seydoux, Alicia Vikander, Ruth Negga, Laura Harrier, Riley Keough, Sophie Turner and Doona Bae, who have all previously starred in Louis Vuitton campaigns, to pose for the lookbook.
These women embrace the various personalities that embody fashion at Louis Vuitton. Be they stars or new faces, all of them share the same willpower and confidence in their choices, and at the same time, reflect the eclecticism of the female identity.
Also joining the cast is transgender actress Indya Moore, star of Ryan Murphy’s series “Pose,” which was nominated for best television series at the recent Golden Globes.
The strategy takes a lookbook to a new place, a place of recognition that every single touchpoint today is an opportunity to tell a story, expand one’s network, and reinforce your brand’s core value proposition. The move also cements that pre-collections are more than small seasonal fillers and that is well conceived these collections can be meaningful communications platforms for labels.
