The choice of Isabela Rangel Grutman and the location is a unique move for the house as they shift to expand their narrative from traditional studio shots of uber athlete Serena Williams to ‘on location’ looks with the ‘Queen of Miami,’ model Isabela Rangel Grutman.
The proportion of the campaign reads all digital (as in banner ad scale), which is a wise move for the moment.
The campaign celebrates the connection of the individual with the natural world. Jennifer Massaux’s short film uses dynamic camera work to channel the energy of the wind and waves while capturing the summertime sophistication of the house’s new collection. In a thoughtful voiceover, Grutman reflects on the liberating feeling of stepping across the sand to meet the sea. The feel is more mass-market ‘cosmetic campaign’ than that of high-end footwear but the first step forward to newness always requires finding one’s footing and this is a positive first step.
Perfectly timed to the world opening back up with the arrival of summer, the campaign has us ready to put our best foot forward as we step into the sun.
