Store Scout – Thom Browne NYC Women’s
BY ALAYNA DIXSON
Thom Browne opened his first women’s flagship on 100 Hudson Street, as an expansion to his men’s location. With the success of his men’s store, launched in 2006; the expansion of his women’s collection was highly anticipated. The two stores, each around 2,000 square feet, are connected by a passageway leading into the newly added women’s store.
The women’s store stays united with the men’s by continuing the single aesthetic vision of structured texture with buff-colored, custom-poured terrazzo floors and gray Bardiglio marble walls in the effortless shade of banker’s gray, which has become one of Browne’s staple looks. The store is furnished with strong powerful pieces by Jacque Adnet, Paul McCobb, and Edward Wormley.
Inside the newly combined store is a mid-century bar with matching stools designed by Maison Jansen and chairs by Pierre Jeanneret. The bar is a fun, intimate feature for customers to enjoy a private moment, bringing an aspect of experiential retailing in. The men’s store has been stretched to now include a special salon, which provides made-to-measure clothing. The women’s store offers Browne’s extensive collection of clothing and accessories, as well as other items that are exclusive to the New York store.
